Kyle Randall

Kyle is an accomplished pianist and a professional composer, with works premiered in places like Carnegie Hall and La Schola Cantorum in Paris. Having played the piano from the age of five, the keyboard feels to him like a familiar glove, and playing it is second nature. Kyle has an unusual background as a pianist; from a young age he began writing a great deal of his repertoire, as well as studying classical playing and jazz improvisation and playing popular songs and film scores by ear. Now he is a jack of all trades, with roots in classical, jazz, rock, and improvisation, as well as composition. Kyle also studied the organ for a number of years and has worked as a church organist, and he has a great deal of experience singing in and conducting choirs. In fact, he just won the American Prize for a choral composition he completed last year.

In addition to piano lessons, Kyle would be happy to teach organ lessons (if an organ is available), and he is always open to providing composition and/or theory instruction if a student is interested in that. His teaching philosophy—stemming from his own experience growing up with music instruction—is that while a teacher should provide a student with new concepts, their main goal should be to seek to understand what their student is finds interesting, and then to help them to develop their ability in that area.
